NUS Beginner's Competition

NUS Ballroom Team recently organised a mini competition and Viva is proud to have sent some of our very own dancers to take part as well! (:

Even without formal training, Jiaen and Mohan decided to take up the challenge and compete in the advanced beginner's category of the competition. The couple started dancing together during the Cactus Concert in February, and have been dancing together since.

Because of their busy schedules, they have had very little time to train for the competition, but still managed to do Viva proud by taking first place in their category!

The dancers say that the experience has only spurred them on to work harder and has made them see that there is still much they need to work on in terms of technique and performance quality. We'll be keeping an eye for these fine young dancers and watching out for their next performance on the dance floor.

Besides Jiaen and Mohan, another Viva member Meng Deren also did well during the competition and impressed the judges with his skills even though he's only been dancing Latin for a few months! Way to go!

 we are also very proud to have our alumni Carin represent Viva as one of the judges for the competition, alongside illustrious professional dancers like Karla!

Not forgetting that this entire competition was run by the very capable Xiao Kai who is both the president of NUS Ballroom Team as well as a Viva member!
