1st The Cathay Dancesport Competition

After the CACTUS 2014 concert was over, Viva Alumni really missed dancing together ): 

and then... we found out that The Cathay was holding a showdance competition!!! Ooooh how excited we were! It's always fun to dance as a team! 

The only problem was that our CACTUS item was a looooong 8 minutes and the maximum time limit for the dancesport competition was 4 minutes! oh no!

Putting our brains together, we decided to take the item from 1920s cabaret to a modern burlesque, whilst keeping the romantic rumba that we loved. 

Also, time to leave the corsets and lace behind, we decided to spice things up a little and go with boyfriend shirts and fluffy shorts (; 

Coming together to train for this item was even tougher than training for CACTUS, what with members being busy with work or overseas. 

The Viva Alumni only had one full practice with all 10 members present, the night before the actual competition, so it was a job well done that we managed to pull this performance off! Woohoo!

It was definitely a great experience to modify and dance this piece as a team again (:

and now we know that we can't stop dancing, because our feet won't stop twitching and our hips don't stop shaking!!! Viva Alumni will  be back with new performances soon. In the meantime, we'll be behind the scenes at Viva trainings, making sure Viva is training hard!!! Catch you all soon!
